How to care for your knitwear

Caring for and cleaning wool knitwear requires gentle handling to maintain its softness and shape.

  1. Washing:
    • Hand wash in cool water (ideally below 30°C or 86°F) using a mild wool detergent.
  2. Drying:
    • Never wring or twist the garment to remove excess water. Instead, press gently or roll it in a towel to absorb moisture.
    • Lay the knitwear flat to dry on a clean, dry towel to maintain its shape and prevent stretching. Avoid hanging it, as it can distort the fibers.
  3. Storage:
    • Store wool knitwear in a cool, dry place. To avoid moth damage, use cedar blocks or mothballs, and keep garments in breathable storage bags.
Fold wool items rather than hanging them to preserve their shape.
  4. Pilling:
    • Wool can pill over time, especially on friction points like the underarms or sleeves. Use a fabric shaver or a wool comb to gently remove pills.

By following these tips, your wool knitwear will stay soft, durable and good looking for years.
